Jerry, a black Shetland pony, tells stories for younger readers. They begin when he joins a family to be William’s pony. He meets other horses and ponies that belong to the family, and his stories follow Jerry through many adventures and difficulties. He explains about people he meets, and what they do to care for him. Jerry remembers when he and William went to gymkhanas, and what they did there. Why he spent many days at a local venture park. His shares his thoughts on experiences, and his new surroundings, after moving to Yorkshire. Finally, he tells how he leaves the family when he is older to be a companion to a bigger horse that was lonely. Jerry hopes his stories will help young people to learn to care for their pony; he believes every young person will enjoy his stories, whether they have a pony or not.
