  • Collins Primary Maths: Year 1

    Peter Clarke

    CD-ROM (Collins Educational, Feb. 20, 2000)
COLLINS PRIMARY MATHS is based on the learning objectives of The Framework for Teaching Mathematics (part of the National Strategy). The scheme takes interactive whole-class teaching as its main method of delivery, but with opportunities for differentiated group work and individual practice. Rapid Maths allows individuals or pairs to practise skills in the objectives of the Calculations strand of the Framework, using ITC. The content is also suitable for the relevant Scottish 5-14 Guidelines. Each disk has four games, each with 3 levels of difficulty; two quizzes, each with 3 levels of difficulty, plus recording and diagnostic facilities for the teacher. (There are no quizzes at Reception level) Pupils select their name from a list pre-recorded by the teacher. Quizzes are timed and the results recorded. Questions are random as default but can be pre-set by the teacher. Rapid Maths gives constructive feedback, such as number lines or hundred squares, when pupils have difficulties.
