Armstrong has worked as in television, radio and print news for several years, in addition to public affairs. He is a U.S. Army combat veteran who served in Iraq. He is a graduate of New Mexico State University, but grew up in Central Illinois. Armstrong’s childhood was spent in Tazewell County, an area covered with dense woods, creeks, and fields of corn and pumpkins.
