    'The Secret of the Bowie Knife’.Billy Lumsden is 12 and a dreamer. He has a fascination for knives, in particular throwing knives. He adores car boot sales. One Sunday at his favourite ‘boot’ sale he buys an old display case containing a Bowie Knife. The seller tells him it is a genuine antique from America. Unbeknown to Billy the knife holds a secret. The secret is revealed to him one night during a ‘visitation’ by an old Mexican. The Mexican tells the boy he and a friend stole 30 bars of U.S. gold bullion after the ‘Battle of the Alamo’ and 8 bars still remain hidden following his death. Discovering a hidden manuscript in the hilt of the knife Billy and his family are given information about the whereabouts of the hoard of gold. Billy encourages his parents to seek out the treasure.The family embark on an exciting and adventurous holiday in a motor home through America and Mexico, in search of the hidden treasure. Billy’s little brother Sam (7) gets involved in a kidnap rescue resulting in the family being rewarded with a stay at a real American ranch. Eventually the family discover the hidden treasure, Billy’s older sister Lucy (14) is shocked to find that her Spanish teacher has got to the gold before them but she has suffered from a snake bite and is near to death. The family claims the treasure and hand it in to the Mexican authorities. Billy discovers the truth about the origin of his Bowie Knife and earns a special reward from the U.S. Government.The gold is finally handed over to the American government. Unexpectedly, the Lumsdens are very generously rewarded by the American authorities and young Billy 'The Dreamer' becomes the hero and saviour of the family. Age group 10-12 years (59,500 words)

Ultimately, Jimmy confronts the main threat to his carefree and happy childhood, the gang leader himself - Mad Mitch.Accepting a seemingly impossible challenge from the bully and in front of the whole school Little Jimmy teaches Mad Mitch the lesson of a lifetime. Mad Mitch is finally arrested and charged with conspiracy to robbery. With the gang of bullies now facing certain incarceration and the leader suffering a humiliation he will never shed, Jimmy finally escapes from the bullies evil doings. Armed with his new found knowledge he knows he will never suffer at the hands of such people again.

    Beachcomber Bill and the Magic Seahorse.Beachcomber Bill lives in a wooden shack on the beach. He is a solitary character who spends most his time combing the beach for treasure or anything which he can use to fashion into articles to sell to the local souvenir shop. One day he discovers a beautiful Seahorse lying in a small pool, it is barely alive. Bill rescues the creature and the Seahorse promises him three wishes if he can return him safely to his home deep on the ocean bed. The catch is ……Bill must not leave anything in the ocean which is linked to planet Earth or humankind in any way otherwise the wishes will not be granted. Bill faces up to the challenge and eventually designs a plan which earns him his three wishes. Unfortunately, in reckless haste he wastes two of his wishes but finally makes his final wish which brings him true happiness. However, there is a catch to the story………..how did Bill return the Seahorse to his home without leaving any evidence behind? Age group 7 - 9 years. (3,200 words)
