This is the history of how a living, emancipated foot, Deputy Le Pedi, The Long Foot of the Law, became a Deputy Peacekeeper in the Hexville “Sheriff’s” office maintaining the at times tenuous Peace between a town full of Enchanters.While this is the second story in my mockumentary style comedy series, Welcome To Hexville, it’s the genesis from which the idea sprung for the series. The first story of which I wrote as a short screenplay in film school about a LAPD, Los Angeles Police Department, captain, who upon retiring from his high stress position takes a job in Hexville, the hometown of his wife, thinking he’d have a nice easy job as Peacekeeper, the head of the town’s law enforcement, patrolling a pastoral community. Upon assuming the role of Peacekeeper, his stress magnifies tremendously, for unknown to him prior to taking the job, his wife like nearly all the inhabitants of Hexville are supernatural and the town’s far from pastoral. Shhhhhhs. It’s not politically correct to call them the “W” word, Witches. They’re Enchanters in desperate need of a Peacekeeper and his deputies, who by law are selected from those with no supernatural abilities, but are armed with supernatural talisman to accomplish their tasks of maintaining order while remaining neutral.
