A Young Boy Finds LifeÂ’s Greatest Discovery! This classic story has been a favorite with generations of children. It illustrates the close friendship of an old man and a young boy as they suffer through hard times together in Victorian London. The poignant and touching developments which lead them from despair to hope through faith impress young minds with the reality of life as it is and the quality of life as it can be. Although tragedy and death strike, young Christie is to learn he is never really alone and never truly abandoned. This charming story will delight a whole new generation. Christopher Wright, a popular childrenÂ’s author himself, has carefully revised and updated this version for todayÂ’s young readers.
  • The King's Cup-Bearer

    O. F. Walton

Paperback (Dodo Press, Dec. 14, 2007)
Amy Catherine Walton (1849-1939), better known as Mrs. O. F. Walton, was a British author of Christian children's and teenage books, mainly but not exclusively fiction. Her career as an author of children's books began in 1870 with My Mates and I, followed by at least two others. Then in 1874 came one of her best known books, Christie's Old Organ, which has been regularly reprinted up to the present day. It is the story of orphaned Christie and his friend the aged organ-grinder Treffy. Although she wrote many more books, it is A Peep Behind the Scenes and Christie's Old Organ which have remained well known, continuing to be published by the Lutterworth Press, successor to her original publisher, the Religious Tract Society, until at least the late 20th century, and later available from other publishers, along with occasional reprints of a few of her other works, such as Saved at Sea (1879), to the present day. Her other works include Christie, The King's Servant (1898) and The King's Cup-Bearer (1891).

Excerpt from Saved at Sea: An Lighthouse Story It was a terrible storm. My grandfather said he had never known such a storm since he came to live on the island, more than forty years before. Many ships went down in the storm that day, and many lives were lost. But in the very midst of it, when the wind was highest, and the waves were strongest, and when the foam and the Spray had completely covered the lighthouse windows, I, Alick Fergusson, was born.
