His parents apprentice him to become a physician, where he learns herbal medicine and how to treat injuries. When his uncle finds that he has unusual night vision, Ariel is thrust into guiding midnight missions to rescue injured Hebrew slaves. As he brushes shoulders with death, he seeks for answers from God, leading to a life of purpose and adventure.
