  • Crimbfuor: Arrival in Atrithar

    Mike Ross

    language (, Jan. 16, 2016)
Mystery, Magic, Kabbalah and YiddishAn ordinary boy; a strange girl – an unlikely pair of protagonists. An abandoned and eerie home. An elderly neighbor and a mysterious redhead. Photos and old documents, and a supernatural medallion. These elements meet and interact from unusual events: troublesome dreams, the loss of a colleague's memory, the testimony of a secret dialogue, the transformation of the own mother into a kind of figure. When Peter Wine came back home without memory, after entering the Crimbfuor Mansion, James Tombbey begins to suspect that perhaps the house across the street is really dangerous. Conversations with Serafina, a neighbor who knows more than it seems, and messages such redhead corroborate to make it even more intrigued. James goes to the Archives of his city – Corrados –, where he discovers scarce data on the imports of Crimbfuor name. But only when the mother of James is reached, the boy is forced to invade the mansion in search of something that he himself does not know what it is.This is the context which leads James and Judith – a classmate who eventually becomes his confident and a very special friend – to the interior of Crimbfuor mansion in which they find a third partner – Ted. It is already inside the house that the three meet Hilmer, an elder that reveals and explains many concepts and facts: the origin of the lineage of the stΓ‘qui – a clan of human beings endowed with the touch of magic; the confirmation that Crimbfuor was a person; the existence and the need to find the pendulum created by Crimbfuor and hidden in the parallel universe of Atrithar. In this new world, whose portal is a simple bathroom mirror, and that seemed to wait for the boys, they are faced with challenges and mystical beings, in the midst of a war between a wicked king and the other inhabitants of that dimension. There, they realize that surprisingly came to have special skills to survive in that unknown and challenging context. Ancient legends well known for Ted to show true and the young people themselves begin to play prominent roles in them. James becomes an Archer Turuv; Judith, one Luren Swordsman; Ted, a nomad healer. But this is not enough. They will have to learn to manage a gift that knew not possess – quoted the press: a magical power that can alter the forces of nature.A fantastic storyline, filled with concepts based on Kabbalah, the almost extinct Yidishe language and Celtic mysticism, which increases its narrative pace as the boys penetrate on this adventure in search of salvation for Dora - James' mother. The climax, however, is reserved for the end of the saga: startling revelations about the origins and identities of the main characters.
