    Loren Michael

    language (, Dec. 6, 2016)
Einar is an unforgiving city. From the depths of the salt pits, young Pravin can see the immense Red Tower outlined against the sky. It reminds him of the destruction of Einar seven years ago, when the Republic Legionnaires razed the city and “set him free.”Pravin may no longer be technically enslaved, but he nevertheless toils without relief in the salt pits of Einar, pulling a cart out and back a hundred times a day. And he has done this every day for the past seven years. Then Pravin’s world is shattered by the beginning of a rebellion and a strange group of men led by the mysterious Savio. Riots break out among the pit gangs, and Pravin loses his sister, Asha—the only family he has left—in the chaos. Pravin is not going to leave her to her fate. He teams up with Savio to restore order in the pit and rescue Asha. Their dark and dangerous adventure is the first of many as Savio opens Pravin’s eyes to the world beyond Einar and the boy begins to understand his place in this brutal, barren world.

    eBook
Zoey Le Mar no longer has a boring preteen life in the suburbs. Magical armor, a ghostly ancestral guide, and monsters always popping up remind her how denial and a veil of secrets got her, and her friends, where they are today. And coming full circle, during a fun multifamily vacation to Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado, strange dreams and premonitions began to occur again. However, they involve Danielle and her Native American heritage. The visions are of a time when the white man deceived and disseminated the native inhabitants. While shocking and disturbing, Zoey, Danielle, Lucy, and Rhea talk amongst themselves about the bizarre incidences and convince themselves that what’s going is non-magical in nature or life threatening; hence, the parents don’t need to know.More dreams and premonitions intrude and weigh heavily on Danielle, and even Lucy gets pulled into one, somehow. The visions revolve around a young teen, a shaman-in-training. A strange pattern forms, and accidents start to happen. Luckily, the girls cover, and they again dismiss or rationalize. After a special trip—a magical spirit walk—the girls finally come clean and inform the parents. Though reprimanded, the consensus is this is part of the girl’s multifaceted training. To make matters worse, the ghosts possess girls’ parents, and through Danielle’s mother, they gain access to magic. The ghosts want revenge and to reclaim a life once lost. Now, hard decisions demand action. Paperback (Transworld Pub, May 10, 2012)
When scientists with warped imaginations accidentally unleash an experimental bioweapon that transforms Britain's animals into sneezing, bloodthirsty zombies with a penchant for pre-dinner sex with their victims, three misfits become the unlikely hope for salvation. Abattoir worker Terry Borders' love life is crippled by the stench of death that clings to his skin from his days spent slaughtering cows; teenage vegan Geldof 'Scabby' Peters alternates between scratching furiously at his rash and baiting his overbearing New Age mother; and inept journalist Lesley McBrien struggles forlornly in the shadow of her famous war correspondent father and the star journalist at the "Glasgow Tribune". When Britain begins a rapid descent into chaos and ministers cynically attempt to blame al-Qaeda, Lesley stumbles upon proof that the government is behind the outbreak. During her bumbling quest to unveil the truth, she crosses paths with Terry and Geldof, and together they set out to escape a quarantined Britain with the evidence and vital data that could unlock a cure for the virus. Standing in the way are rampaging hordes of animals, a ruthless security agent and an army ready to shoot anybody with a case of the sniffles on the off-chance the virus has mutated. Three losers. Overwhelming odds. A single outcome: the world is screwed.

After being shocked and disturbed by this incident, an old sage from the historical flash warns them the monster will be coming for them, and soon. Adding to the evolving problems, an exiled artist from Russia, Nikoli Ducov, has drawn a picture of Lucy in her armor, and it’s mysteriously distributed around school. (, Jan. 29, 2014)
Burma was wild and exotic, with a rich landscape and tempestuous weather. Frank was quickly introduced to the world of rubies abounding in the country, especially the very expensive “Pigeon blood ruby.” However, this beautiful and distant world had a dark side; its villagers were poor, uneducated, and the victims of slave and prostitution ring leaders. While being initiated to the world of weapons and rubies trade, Frank met with a young and very intelligent boy by the name of Phirrot. The boy, who spoke very little English, opened the doors to a culture Frank was dying to discover. But shortly after their meeting, the only Burmese friend Frank had was snatched one night while his village was being burned down. Grabbing the only opportunity, he had to chase after Alex; Frank, with the help of a few willing monks, went on a mission to rescue Phirrot. After a first failed attempt, Frank met with the beautiful Paula (an international investigator for child abuse) and together they were able to rescue the stolen children. Soon after, he was faced by Khun Sa himself who tried to make an example out of Frank by executing the monks who offered to help him. While running away from the general, Frank faced another great challenge; the powerful monsoon rains, which literally drowned him and the kids he was trying to save. The challenges confronting him, forced Frank to face his real enemies buried inside his soul; rooting from his own devastated childhood, with an abusive father who did nothing but bring him down. Frank finally understood that his dedication to saving Phirrot was actually an indirect attempt at saving himself. Fortunately, Frank survived and was approached by Paula’s group who trained and sent him to Brazil where he was about to face the evil men operating the shameful trade. In order to infiltrate the international ring, Frank had to pose as a customer preying on the very same kids he was trying to save. His mission will take him to a “Kill scene” where Frank only had seconds to save two children from a tragic end. The ringleaders now captured, Frank returned to his daughters with the great feeling of having found redemption.
