  • Inside the Blubber Tree

    Michael Lamb

eBook (Publish America, June 19, 2011)
Ace Canary and Dud Clutch is an old children’s story, written about 30 years ago. The original manuscript was very short; put away in an envelope and lost in a box in a closet. When I wrote it, it was for my own children, and never meant for publication. I recently come across it and re-wrote it, adding a few things to it. My oldest son Michael drew the illustrations, which are included with this publication. It is about a hound dog and a canary that go on a journey to find the magical land of Kabloopery. Ace had been told about the place while he was in vacationing during the winter cold months. Along the way, they meet some characters that lead Ace and Dud to Kabloopery. Further adventures in the land of Kabloopery are forth coming, but they needed to get there first. It is also important to recognize that the beautiful land called Kabloopery exists within an ugly tree called the Blubber Tree. This brings to mind that beautiful things can be found inside us, regardless of how we may see someone on the outside. It is a object lesson that many things may not be as they appear on the outside, but force us to look deeper than that.

One cold night while helping her husband with a research dig in Constantinople, Ruina Baxter found the remains of Lazarus himself. What she discovered changed the course of time forever.
