Focusing on the remarkable variety of wildlife in lakes and rivers, the book looks at about 40 animals, with basic information supported by fact-boxes and notes on conservation and ecology. The author won the Prix d'Enfantasie for the Best Children's Non-fiction Book ("Exploring the Countryside") at the 1989 Geneva Book Fair.
