  • Whispering Oaks 2, Unexpected Adventures

    Meredith Anderson

    language (, Feb. 28, 2012)
Donetta Garman: Best selling author of the very popular Growing Up Ugly, wrote: Whispering Oaks 2, Unexpected Adventures has a cover that spells mystery, enlightenment, fantasy and intrigue. This sophomore sequel follows up Whispering Oaks, The Curse. The story line is simplified by Mr. Anderson’s command of the English language and his ability to portray his realistic characters. By the end of the book, I was actually believing in Elfins and wish fairies! The story’s main character is young Brittany Standish and her cousins Makayla and Taya along with her grandfather Potsy.A colorful cast of characters and events make this book hard to put down. While written with the younger reader in mind, this is a fun read for any age. Mythical and magical creatures, enchanting adventures and an interesting story line give this book its zing!I recommend this book for a most enjoyable read and to stretch the imagination. I look forward to the next installment in this series.

Colter tried to protest, but was slapped across the face with a rifle butt. The Blackfeet held a council and it was decided that he would be a little sport for several of the young warriors.Colter was brought before the War Chief and told in the Crow language that he would be permitted to leave in his naked condition. A few seconds later a brave would be sent out after him for the purpose of killing him. A few seconds later another warrior would be sent and so on until ten Blackfeet pursued him. This would be a naked “run for his life.”

It has magical powers and “it is very dangerous un- less it ‘picks’ you. If it picks you, you will have magnificent magical powers and you will become the Altair. If it does not, you will experience headaches and nightmares. This is the third time I have sold this bracelet in the last five years. You may return it if it does not agree with you.” A review: Mr. Anderson spins a yarn that entangles all of us in this story of teenage girls taking a vacation by car. Like all of his Zoie books, this book entertains from page one. He writes in a style that is reminiscent of Mark Twain. There is an adventure in every chapter. We can certainly understand why he has been given the Gold Quill For Literature Award.
