  • The Chase

    Max Dempsey

    Paperback (Crossbooks, July 27, 2011)
Carter Ransom faces his greatest nightmare. His precious wife, Molly, has gone missing. The police write it off as abandonment, but Carter knows better. Following a strange call from Molly, Carter's chase begins. Seemingly at the wrong place at the wrong time, his wife is entangled in a terrorist plot-abducted and tormented, unless Carter can save her. But the Ransom family is not alone in their troubles. America, too, is under attack. A well-hidden mole in Washington is waiting to bring America to her knees, and not even the president can stop him. Soon, Carter finds Molly, but now they are both captives, held by Nick Brodie, a ruthless killer who gorges himself on the fears of others. Worlds collide as everything converges on Krimmler Falls, Austria. American Special Forces want answers; Carter and Molly just want to escape. Through a mysterious encounter, Carter has already learned that truly loving Molly compels him to pursue her at all times. But soon he finds out that it also means giving himself, even if it means making the ultimate sacrifice.

  • The Delphic Oracle, Its Early History, Influence and Fall

Paperback (Forgotten Books, Nov. 16, 2016)
Excerpt from The Delphic Oracle, Its Early History, Influence and FallOne of my pleasantest duties in a recent term of office as Extern Examiner in Greek to the National University of Ireland was to read a Thesis on the History of the Delphic Oracle by the Rev. T. Dempsey, for which he was awarded the degree of M.A. with Honours by the unanimous vote of the Classical Examiners. The sound Greek scholarship and the sympathetic and temperate judgment which it showed, no less than the clearness of its arrangement, led me to advise Mr. Dempsey to undertake a thorough revision of his work with a view to its appearing as a book, and I am very glad to learn that this has been arranged. Though I can only speak with such knowledge of Greek Religion as comes to a student and lover of Greek Literature who has devoted some attention to the epigraphic records of ancient religion in Italy and in some parts of Hellas, I have found so much interest and profit in what Mr. Dempsey has written, that I venture to commend it to other students. I know no other treatise which covers the same ground and which presents the chief facts in so convenient, and, so far as I may judge, so trustworthy a form.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
