This rare text was originally published in 1851 and is republished now with a new introductory biography of the author. This book has been chosen because of its cultural importance, published with the intent of immortalising valuable literature to be enjoyed by the discerning reader for many years to come. A wonderful example of the author’s work, this piece is not to be missed by any collector of Mayhew. Henry Mayhew was an English playwright, social researcher, and journalist. He was one of the co-founders of the satirical and humorous magazine Punch in 1841.
