The story is based on the lonely life of a Chihuahua who is 'just a little too hyper' so the other animals will not play with him. They think that there is something wrong with him, so they avoid him. He spends a lot of time alone, hoping that his mother's words ring true of there being some one out there who is meant to be his friend. This book is not illustrated. Many children will relate to this story. Those who feel 'different' or that they do not 'fit in'. It will give them hope that they will be OK and there is some one waiting to be their friend who feels exactly as they do.It will also help children to learn and feel empathy. It will open their hearts to people who are not exactly like them. It is written for young children ages 2 to about 7 depending on their maturity level. This is a great choice for a bed time story. It is not too long and it leaves the child with positive feelings.
