  • The Secret Teachings of Jesus: Four Gnostic Gospels

    Marvin Meyer

    Paperback (Vintage, May 12, 1986)
In December 1945, two Egyptian fellahin, digging for natural fertilizer in the Nile River valley unearthed a sealed storage jar. The jar proved to hold treasure of an unexpected sort: a collection of some fifty-two ancient manuscripts, most of which reflect the teachings of a mystical religious movement we call Gnosticism (from the Greek word gnosis, "knowledge"). The texts are also, with few exceptions, Christian documents, and thus they provide us with valuable new information about the character of the early church, and about the Gnostic Christians within the church. In this volume, Marvin W. Meyer has produced a new English translation for general readers of four of the most important and revealing of these early Christian texts -- the Secret Book of James, the Gospel of Thomas, the Book of Thomas, and the Secret Book of John.
  • New Moon

    Meyer

    Paperback (Atom, Jan. 1, 2010)
I stuck my finger under the edge of the paper and jerked it under the tape. 'Shoot,' I muttered when the paper sliced my finger. A single drop of blood oozed from the tiny cut. It all happened very quickly then. 'No!' Edward roared ...Dazed and disorientated, I looked up from the bright red blood pulsing out of my arm - and into the fevered eyes of the six suddenly ravenous vampires. For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is more dangerous than Bella ever could have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of an evil vampire but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realise their troubles may just be beginning ...

  • Which Is It?: b or d

    Marie Meyer

Paperback (Ingrid Renton, Sept. 5, 2019)
David doesn’t like school. He finds reading and writing difficult because he reverses the letters ‘b’ and ‘d’ and can’t tell the difference between them. But luckily for David, his family and a couple of cuddly toys called Beepee and Deefor invent a way to help him. During her long career as a learning support specialist, Marie Meyer noticed that many children had issues with letter reversal when first introduced to the alphabet. She devised an ingenious way to help these children by relating letters to their own body image. In her book, 'Which is it?' Marie explains this method with the help of a simple story and clear, attractive images that will appeal to young children. By adopting the practices explained in this book early, b/d confusion may be prevented before a child becomes disillusioned with learning to read and write. This book is an indispensable resource for both parents and teachers.
