  • The Sins of Jubal Cooper

    Mary Lingerfelt

    language (, July 20, 2018)
THE SINS OF JUBAL COOPER IS AVAILABLE ON KINDLE UNLIMITED! Well, I ain't good at talkin', or shootin' bull like Harlan -- he can talk for a solid hour about ghosts and other foolishness -- so I'll just get to the point. This is the story of how I got tangled up with Judge Jubal Cooper, and what happened 'cause of it. If I'd been a better boy, none of it woulda happened, but then again, lots of folks break the law just a little, these days. There's a Depression on, and everybody's got to dicker with their conscience the best they can. Anyway, some good came of me gettin' drug up to the judge's house, and bein' put to work for him, I guess. You can make up your own mind about that; but I reckon things worked out all right in the end, considerin' that I coulda ended up dead more than once. Like I said, it's hard times, and a man has to be light on his feet, and keep his wits sharp, if he wants to keep a whole skin.
