    This is the short story of Hale Johnstone, son of a light-keeper, who saved the life of seafaring people near his father's lighthouse one stormy night. While most of Hale's family was away, his father (the lightkeeper) was attacked by "wreckers" who, caring nothing for human life, wanted to cause shipwrecks so they could prey on the spoils. Though it happened long ago, the story of Hale's bravery in outwitting those wicked men and saving the lives of people at sea that night is inspirational yet today.
