    Madison Johns

eBook (Outrageous Books, Sept. 2, 2016)
Lake Forest witch Petunia Patterson enters her four cats in the first Lake Forest Cat Show, even though only three of them are really felines. One of them actually used to be a man before Petunia gave him a love potion that went haywire and changed him into a cat; but he’s a cat she communicates with telepathically. The problem is her nemesis Maria Hoodwink and Maria’s mother Estelle also enter a cat in the show. Petunia doesn’t have time to worry about that, though, as poisoned champagne sickens entrants at the show and the grand marshal, Mr. Calhoun, is near death as a result.Aunt Maxine shows up to save the day—but is her antidote really a cure or another problem? Fortunately, Petunia’s steady beau Noah Becker is on hand to help her solve the case, which becomes even more interesting when his parents show up in town to meet Petunia. What is needed might be some old fashioned witchcraft, or could that be what caused the problem in the first place?

  • Agnes Barton In Tawas Box Set, An Agnes Barton Senior Sleuths Mystery series

    Madison Johns

eBook (Outrageous Books, April 27, 2014)
From the USA Today Bestselling Author Madison Johns, comes her second box set,Agnes Barton In Tawas Box set (Books 4-6) that includes Trouble in Tawas, Treasure in Tawas, and the newly released, Bigfoot in Tawas. Trouble in TawasAgnes Barton has been waiting years for this day. She’s always told Sheriff Peterson he would rue the day when his re-election time came around and now — it’s finally here. What will Agnes do? Will she cause conflict or support the other candidate? When the sheriff’s father Hal goes missing, Agnes and Eleanor Mason are on a mission to find him, leading them to the Soaring Eagle Casino. But when they haul him home it’s only to find that his companion, Raul Perez, is dead at the bottom of the stairs. When the cops show up it doesn’t look good for Hal who is in possession of the dead man’s credit card. With Hal now as a suspect, and Sheriff Peterson off the case, the sheriff hires Agnes and Eleanor to clear his father’s name. Will Agnes be able to clear Hal’s name in time to save Peterson from failure at the polls or is this case too bizarre as a tenant claims aliens are involved?Treasure in TawasThe last thing Agnes Barton expected was to be slapped in cuffs alongside her best friend, and fellow-sleuthing buddy, Eleanor Mason. All they had wanted to do was to verify if a painting at the Butler Mansion had indeed been stolen. How were they to know that they had tripped off a silent alarm—or that Agnes’ nemesis Mildred Winfree’s body would be discovered when the cops showed up? It didn’t help that they had entered the mansion illegally—using a key Agnes had pilfered from her daughter Martha who was working as a real estate agent to sell the old place. Word has it that a treasure map was hidden in the back of a painting at the Butler Mansion, and it was just too juicy a story not to investigate. So here Agnes and Eleanor sat in jail as prime suspects as they were brought in for questioning. The tabloid, Tall Tales, printed a treasure map in its most recent addition, and soon, East Tawas becomes a point of interest as treasure hunters began tearing up the town looking for treasure. Agnes and Eleanor join in the foray, but she wondered just who was behind this tall tale, and what did it have to do with Mildred’s murder? Bigfoot and TawasAgnes and Eleanor embark on their most challenging case to date, finding Bigfoot!Agnes isn’t sure what to say when Billy Matlin, hires her to find Bigfoot, and it doesn’t help that Eleanor is hiding in the car. Who is she to say that Bigfoot isn’t real, and lord knows she sure could use a paying gig. Armed with a baggie full of brown hair, Agnes and Eleanor march into the sheriff’s department, but Sheriff Peterson is reluctant to test the hair. Outright refusing to use county resources for a DNA analysis. Before long, the Department of Natural Resources and the United States Fish and Game Service also both refuse to test the hair. Suggesting that the only way they would investigate is if an endangered species is involved. Never one to be told no, Agnes does the only thing she thinks will get them to change their minds by planting evidence in the form of a road killed Bald Eagle on Billy’s property. East Tawas is not only overrun with Bigfoot sightings, but it would seem just about everyone they question claims to have seen something mysterious in the woods. When big game hunters roll into town, and with the DNR and U.S. Fish and Game fighting over the brown hair, not to mention a reality show offering up a ten million dollar prize to whoever finds Bigfoot, it’s up to Agnes and Eleanor to find out the truth, which is further complicated when Billy Matlin mysteriously disappears.

  • Peach and Plum

    M Johnson

    Paperback (1072 Studio, Nov. 20, 2019)
Peach and Plum opens with seven year-old Mayfair Tootle, who steps into the world of Maverick Elementary as a new student on the first day of school. And things like: Fifth graders who hog the kickball court, snooty school yard cliques, a Pop Star girl, school yard games like High Jump and One Fly Up, a dog named Monster, googlie-eyed school yard crushes, a substitute teacher, the Harvest Moon Potluck, a couple of birthday parties, and a crazy school yard brawl on the first day of school, all set the story of Peach and Plum in motion as the school year rolls itself out. Mayfair easily makes new friends at Maverick Elem (what the children call it), and everything is fine until the leader of The Snootish Girls, Kiara Campbell, gets kicked out of her own clique. When she highjacks Mayfair's litle circle of friends, Kiara banishes Mayfair's BFF from the group simply because Xembi reminds Kiara of another girl she can't stand. Fed up with Kiara's mean-girl ways and holding everybody hostage during lunch and recess, Mayfair stands up to Kiara when she finds out that Xembi might go to home school because of the bullying. And just when things get back to normal, Mayfair has one last show down with Kiara Campbell on the last day of school.

  • Dragons Poem

    Maddie Johnson

    language (, July 11, 2017)
I made this digital book because some children want to read and learn about monsters, but sometimes they can get scared. I want to change that. I'm 10 so I've just started to read some adult books, but some parents let their children read some at a younger age and then they might get scared. What I want to do is make a difference. I've created some monster poems which won't scare kids too much, but still tell them about the certain monster. This first poem is about Dragons.
  • American Hearts

    Matt Johnson

language (Promised Land Press, Sept. 29, 2015)
This is minimalist storytelling. Fifty non-fiction stories on American life, work, dreams, and death told with the least number of words possible. Giving the reader a taste of the intangible thing that burns inside so many. A taste of the American spirit. Not some generic pseudo-patriotic bumper sticker spirit. But the thing that enabled this country and the people in it to forever change the course of human history. For better, and sometimes, for worse. This book is about America. Not the government, policy, or politics, but the people. People like Margaret Utinsky who rose from a wheat farm in St. Louis to become a secret agent during World War II. People like Chuck Taylor who leveraged a bad basketball career to make a bad basketball shoe the most famous in the world. And people like Glen Sherley who went from the confines of Folsom Prison to a record deal and tour with Johnny Cash. It’s about the people that made this country the most creative, tragic, and inspiring in history. These are their stories. These are American hearts.
