Over the months Emma slipped into a form of lethargy really not caring what she did or did not do. She imagined herself in a small square box where all the sides were black and slimy. The mental image was so vivid in her mind that she could, if ever requested, paint the image of her misery. She was a small figure trapped in this dark and dreary box, every corner held a nightmare of despair and fear. Her natural instict was to struggle to climb the slimy walls to find a way out and yet in her heart she knew that even if she were to succeed, the outside would be even more frightening and treacherous, so what was the point? She found that she was sleeping far more than before and wondered if with all this sleep she would ever wake up one day feeling alive and inspired. At Least these long perioods of sleep were an escape from herself and all that surrounded her......................................Claire gave Emma a tremendous shove causing her to fall into the surrounding crowd. They responded with equal force and Emma found that she was being brutally shoved from side to side with the girls walking forward at the same time...........the human circle was heading for a deserted part of the school grounds.
