  • Practical Blacksmithing, Vol. 1: A Collection of Articles Contributed at Different Times by Skilled Workmen to the Columns of the Blacksmith and Wheelwright

    M. T. Richardson

Paperback (Forgotten Books, June 4, 2015)
Excerpt from Practical Blacksmithing, Vol. 1: A Collection of Articles Contributed at Different Times by Skilled Workmen to the Columns of the Blacksmith and WheelwrightAlthough there are numerous legendary accounts of the important position occupied by the blacksmith, and the honors accorded him even at a period as remote in the world's history as the time of King Solomon, strange to relate there is no single work in the language devoted solely to the practice of the blacksmith's art. Occasional chapters on the subject may be found, however, in mechanical books, as well as brief essays in encyclopedias. While fragmentary allusions to this important trade have from time to time appeared in newspapers and magazines, no one has ever attempted anything like an exhaustive work on the subject; perhaps none is possible. This paucity of literature concerning a branch of the mechanic arts, without which other trades would cease to exist from lack of proper tools, cannot be attributed to a want of intelligence on the part of the disciples of Vulcan. It is perfectly safe to assert, that in this respect blacksmiths can hold their own with mechanics in any other branch of industry. From their ranks have sprung many distinguished men.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. • Be Careful What You Wish For: Stranger Things Have Not Happened At Sea

    T.A. Richardson

    eBook
Third in a series of Novelettes (between 7,500 words and 17,500) delving into the paranormal. The series, Stranger Things Have Not Happened at Sea, is appealing and has real depth. The tales are all based on ancient esoteric knowledge that the author believes could benefit humanity today. Plunge into the series and think about what the author has to say between the lines and your quality of life will improve. By way of an example research the name of the building in which the protagonist live. In this tale a working mum discovers that Genies are real. And one in particular, Iblis Hybris, has been imprisoned since the birth of humanity for disagreeing with God. For Iblis to be rescued from this punishment, all that is necessary is for one human, just one, to make a wish that is of benefit to them. History, however, shows us that human behaviour has other plans and making beneficial wishes is not as easy as one might think. Everything that has ever been wished for has gone horribly wrong for whoever has wished it.
