'This should NEVER happen to children. It's just wrong, completely wrong.' How does a girl cope when the very worst happens? This is Mimm's story. She lives in the Australian bush, far from a town. Her best friends are wombats. When she's twelve, her beloved Gran has a scary accident and insists on moving to a home. How will they manage, just her and her Dad? Then he gets the job of a lifetime - in a huge city, far from the life she knows. Off they go, their old van loaded to the roof, with Gran's blessing. At first, to Mimm's astonishment, life in the city is good. Then she and her Dad find a new family, and so begins a magic rollercoaster of happiness. Together, they all start a new life. Suddenly, she has a sister and new best friend called Clemmie. For the first time, school isn't the worst place in the world. Mimm discovers fairy penguins, sailing boats and swimming off Phillip island. And Mimm and Clemmie even go with their parents on their honeymoon, all the way to Scotland. And then, in a second, the bottom falls out of Mimm's world. Not once, but twice. Nothing makes sense. She can't breathe. She can't eat. She can't sleep without terrifying dreams. When she thinks life can't get worse, the most unexpected thing happens. She clings to it, though secretly she knows - it might be really bad. And then she runs away. How will Mimm find her way back? Share her story of happiness and heartbreak, as she tries to survive.
