Paperback (Leopold Classic Library, June 25, 2015)
About the Book Biblical studies are a set of diverse disciplines that are concerned with a study of the Bible, i.e. the Tanach and the New Testament. There were four gospels comprising the New Testament (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), and these are the main sources of information about the life of Jesus. Bible studies itself draws on many disciplines ranging from archaeology, ancient history, cultural backgrounds, textual criticism, literary criticism, historical backgrounds, philology, and social science. As to philology for example, most of the Hebrew Bible, the Tanakh, which formed the basis of the Christian Old Testament, was written in Biblical Hebrew, with a few chapters rendered in Biblical Aramaic. On the other hand, the New Testament was written in Koine Greek. Also in this Book Administration in Christian Churches refers to the control of the people that come under the jurisdiction of the church (including bishops, priests, nuns and lay employees), as well as the assets of the Church (which can include religious and non-religious administrtative building and a range of other assets). In the Catholic Church, for example, the supreme administrator and steward of to all ecclesiastical assets is the Pope, through the primacy of his governance. However, Papal administrative authority is exercised primarilly through the Congregations of the Roman Curia and other similar administrative bodies. And in this Book The history of Christianity concerns the Christian religion, with its various denominations, from the life of Jesus Christ in the 1st century to the present. Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Christianity spread to all of Europe in the Middle Ages, and since the Renaissance, has expanded throughout the world and become the world's largest religion (with over 2 billion faithful). At first persecuted, but later embraced by the Roman Empire, the East-West Schism, or Great Schism of 1054, separated the Church into Western (Latin) and Eastern (Greek) branches, i.e., Western Catholicism (based on Rome) and Eastern Orthodoxy (based on Constantinople). The rise of Islam resulted in a number of Crusades fought by Christian Armies from Europe, whose aim was to re-capture and hold Jerusalem. In 1453, Constantinople fell to the Ottoman Empire, and Christianity was almost completely removed from the territory that now comprises Turkey. The three most important traditions that emerged from the Protestant Reformation (1521-1610) were the Lutheran, Reformed (Calvinist, Presbyterian, etc.), and Anglican traditions.About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades. Louise de la Ramée -- also known as Ouida -- was a remarkable nineteenth century writer, with a heck of a range -- she published classic adventure novels, like Under Two Flags; but she also wrote lots of essays -- and wonderfully charming books for children. Her children's work is nothing adult readers should feel shy of; Ouida's children's fiction has an enduring and endearing quality that makes the pages sing.
  • Bimbi: Stories for Children

    Louise De La Ramee

Paperback (Independently published, June 23, 2020)
August lived in a little town called Hall. Hall is a favorite name for several towns in Austria and in Germany; but this one especial little Hall, in the Upper Innthal, is one of the most charming Old-World places that I know, and August, for his part, did not know any other. It has the green meadows and the great mountains all about it, and the gray-green glacier-fed water rushes by it. It has paved streets and enchanting little shops that have all latticed panes and iron gratings to them; it has a very grand old Gothic church, that has the noblest blendings of light and shadow, and marble tombs of dead knights, and a look of infinite strength and repose as a church should have.
