Isaiah goes over to his grandmother’s house for the weekend and experiences the warmth and closeness of family and friends. He helps his grandma in the garden and ends up wet, but happy, after getting into a water fight. On Sunday, church is a place where there is much singing and dancing. This is followed later by a barbecue where Isaiah gets a real taste of island foods. He eats the special pudding he and Aunt Patsy made and some of the other dishes coming from the Caribbean, his grandma’s homeland.
