In his own career, he has enjoyed working with staff, students, and parents in a variety of school districts. Teaching in Native American, inner-city, and suburban schools have blessed him with a wealth of experience. Caesar Saves Christmas was written to further encourage young children in a love of reading. Les and his wife have four children between them, four grandchildren, and two cats. Now retired from teaching, they are both active in their community. Les spends his free time fishing, crafting, and gold panning. Above all, though , he and his wife love traveling – and truly living life.

Little Chicken experiences bullying and neglect from his father, King Rooster, and this children's book shows readers not to judge others by their appearance as it also teaches that just because you don't meet someone else's standards does not mean you can't be successful if you believe in yourself. The book touches on the isolation and loneliness that come from exclusion, just as it shows the courage it takes to stand up to people who have done us wrong. About the Author Les C. Newvine is a retired teacher who still spends time substitute teaching. Les writes in his spare time, initially as a hobby but now writing children's books as a passion. When he's not writing, Les spends time with his wife, traveling, volunteering, and enjoying family. Les plans to visit the National Parks and travel abroad in the coming years.
