Isaac Hunt, the father, was a native of Barbadoes, and was the son, grandson and great-grandson of successive clergymenfiof the English church of the colony. His Wife, Mary Sewell, was born in Philadelphia, but, like her husband, was of English descent. When the American War of Independence broke out Isaac Hunt was practising as a lawyer in Philadelphia, but his zeal for the British cause brought him into collision with his compatriots, and he 'was compelled to flee to England for safety.
