I guess the first thing I want you to understand is that it never felt like âmagicâ to me. Everything that was happening in my life, it was just my normal life. Thatâs how it is for everyone, right? Donât we all start off thinking that everyoneâs life is just like ours? When I was little, my Grandma used to say I was âwise beyond my years.â Momâs version of that went more like âtoo smart for my own good.â By the time I was 7 or 8, I kinda started to understand that maybe my ânormalâ wasnât the same as everyone elseâs, that I could do stuff that other people couldnât do. But, hey, my best friend could do a perfect cartwheel and I fell on my head every time I tried. People are good at different stuff, right? The last couple of years, though, some things have been happening thatâwell, even I have to admitâif itâs not âmagic,â itâs a level of ânormalâ that doesnât seem to happen to most people. Then, on the first day of school in the 8th grade, I met a boy who looks just like me. Figuring out how that coulda happened led me, at first, to more questions. But then came some magic I couldn't deny and answers to questions I didnât even know to ask.Thatâs the story I wanna tell you.
