His legend grew -- at least in his own mind.Fame comes calling on Xinlas again, or so he thinks, when he’s flying a dragon one afternoon and stumbles on a hidden village. The village has a resource that no one’s ever seen before, something that can enable invasions of foreign lands. It is a force so powerful that a ruthless king will kill for it.Along the way, Xinlas meets a mysterious orange-haired girl on a river. Greengrass is like no one he’s ever met. He tries to woo her, and can’t understand why she doesn’t fall for his charms like every other girl. But Greengrass is not every other girl. She is, in fact, the key to stopping the ruler who would enslave millions and crush the world under his throne. Xinlas can’t let that happen, but he'll need help. Help from Greengrass. The problem is that she can’t stand him. Will Xinlas become the hero he believes he can be, or will he break under the weight of his destiny -- and his own arrogance? The fate of civilization rests on his choices.Click to buy, or read free with Kindle Unlimited. What would you do?If you're Tony Carver, nearly-invisible high-schooler, you wonder if the world's coming to and end. You may be right.Tony's safe, normal life is rocked when the social media world suddenly shuts down. An apocalyptic madman has wrecked the Internet, and plunges America into chaos. In a strange twist of fate, Tony stumbles across a smartphone like none he's ever seen before. It has a human-like personality -- it’s cocky, insulting and rude. But this amazing phone can also hack any network in the world with childlike ease. That means Tony’s phone -- which has become a friend -- can fix the Internet and get America back on its feet, before it’s too late. If Tony has the courage and determination to do the right thing.Tony’s not alone, though: risking it all with him are his best friend Rick, who has a taste for fast driving and rule breaking; and Scarlett, so stunning and smart that Tony knows she’s out of his league. The Internet’s down. Armageddon will follow. Unless Tony and his friends -- and his phone -- can stop it.

  • SUKA HATI: The ketch that the brothers built in Paglesham

    Keith Warren

    (, July 31, 2018)
My father put down his coffee cup and looked at his brother.“I know what we could do with Aunt Lil’s inheritance,” he smiled.“What do you have in mind?”“I was reading about those ferro-concrete hulls. We could buy one of those, set it up down by the river and fit it out, keel to mast-top.”My uncle looked thoughtfully into the distance. If he was surprised, he didn’t show it.“How much is that going to cost?”“Not sure. But we can sort that out later. It’s the principle. What do you think?”“Fit it out ourselves?”“Why not? It’s only carpentry with lots of curves. And when it’s done, we can cross the Channel and cruise through the French canals.”And so the project was born. It was a suitable one for two men, born in Westcliff and forever in love with boats and the sea.Ten years later, they pulled up the anchor and, with their wives, set sail towards the Channel and the mists surrounding Calais. The adventure of a lifetime had begun!
