  • One Happy Kid - Broken

    Kathleen Rice

    language (, April 2, 2015)
Being nagged by voices, I sat in the seclusion room asking myself, "What has become of me?"My story is about growing up in a loving Mormon family. It begins with my grandparents who settled in Southeastern Idaho. I grew up in small towns in Northern California, and moved to Salt Lake City when I was 14 years old. As a young adult, I lived in Ventura, California for a few years.I did all the growing things, some of which were personal and hushed. Most of my struggles have been ordinary, but I have a mental illness that threatens my life. While trying to survive I have been in institutions and have been acquainted with many people with psychiatric diagnoses. I let these people into my heart, and I write about us because our lives are important.
  • A Lovable, Humble Soul

    Kathleen Rice

    language (, Jan. 25, 2015)
These are some anecdotes and poetry about true life experiences. I am trying to capture feelings and at the same time figure out relationships and what is important. It begins with a child's struggling to understand religion, girls and boys. Adolescence is a struggle by itself. Young adulthood is a time to make good decisions, but while being immature it doesn't always happen.I also write about some people in the mental health world. I have spent most of my life in therapy.
  • Bashful - The Story of My Life

This is my story about growing up in the Rice family, beginning with ancestors and ending in my young adulthood. Our family is typical and yet interesting. We grew up as members of the Mormon religion.I hope you find us likeable. I think this is a fun book.We all remember things differently. I write what I remember and it's not totally accurate.
