  • Morgan's Park

Roy F. Chandler, Katherine R. Chandler

    eBook (Katherine R. Chandler, Oct. 14, 2012)
The year is 1857. For nearly three years, Tucker Morgan has been adventuring on the great plains and in the mountains with his friend, the master hunter and guide, Grant Holloway. Now it is time to leave the wilderness and return to Salt Lake City to purchase land, to marry, and to raise children. As Mormons, Tuck and Holloway plan to seek wives among their own people, and in their dreaming they carry noble images of the mountain park they will develop into a homeplace with stout cabins and open fields. Morgan's Park recounts Tucker and Holloway's adventures in accomplishing those daunting tasks. Morgan's Park is the final volume of The Gun of Joseph Smith trilogy. Volume one, The Gun of Joseph Smith, began in the year 1850 when Tucker Morgan was only twelve years old, and his family was crossing the plains. The sequel, Tuck Morgan Plainsman, rejoined Tucker and Grant Holloway during Tuck's eighteenth year. Now Tucker is twenty and the excitement, dangers, and sometimes violence of his adventures continue.

PREFACE. BECAUSE children invariably ask for "more" of the stories they find inte!esting, this little book of continuous narrative has been written. Every incident is found in the Lewis and Clark Journals, so that the child's frequent question, (I Is it true?" can be answered ir. the affirmative. The vocabulary consists of fewer than 700 words. Over half of these are found in popular primers. Therefore~ the child should have no difficulty in reading this historical story after completing a first reader. The illustrations on pages 13, 15, 29, 64, and the last one on page 79. are redrawn from Catlin's" Letters and , Notes on the Manners, Customs, and Conditions of the North-American Indians." My acknowledgments are due Miss Lilian Bridgman, of San Francisco, for help in arranging the vocabulary. KATHERINE CHANDLER. SAN FRANCISCO, CALJFORNIA. July I, 1905. Paperback (Leopold Classic Library, July 8, 2015)
About the Book These are titles about women who have been prominent in any field of endeavour, including education, literature, the arts, music, politics, medicine, science and technology. This also includes women who have been prominent in history, in women’s organizations, and part of the movement for women’s suffrage. Also in this Book Women's fiction focuses on women's life experiences that are generally marketed to female readers, and should not be confused with Women's writing, which relates to books written by women rather than for them specifically. There is no comparable maket for males. Women's fiction often describes a woman on the cusp of life changes, her personal development, and her transformative journey through her relationships with others, in particular her romantic relationship. Also in this Book Women's studies examines women’s lives and experiences, the social and cultural constructs of gender; systems of privilege and oppression; and relationships between power and gender. Subjects include feminist theory, standpoint theory, intersectionality, multiculturalism, transnational feminism, social justice, affect studies, agency, biopolitics, materialisms, and embodiment. About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades. While these books may have occasional imperfections, we consider that only hand checking of every page ensures readable content without poor picture quality, blurred or missing text etc. That's why we: republish only hand checked books; that are high quality; enabling readers to see classic books in original formats; that are unlikely to have missing or blurred pages.
