    This book introduces the Beginning to Read sight vocabulary skills strand of Cambridge Reading. It includes comprehensive coverage of the 45 National Literacy Strategy high frequency words for reception and includes development of both reading and writing skills. The introductory pages give specific guidance on how to teach sight vocabulary. The teacher's notes provide ideas and activities on guided reading and writing, independent work, as well as text, sentence and word level work. There is a photocopiable worksheet for each of the children's books. The sight vocabulary strand of Beginning to Read contains 20 fiction books, 20 non-fiction books and a set of 3 workbooks. It can stand alone as a self-supporting strand, or be integrated with the rest of Cambridge Reading in this phase.
