  • Milo and the egg

    Julio Millares

Paperback (Independently published, Aug. 30, 2018)
Milo’s or Mila's Book is a collection of humorous, affectionate tales about the fears and troubles kids have in their early years, such as when a new sibling arrives, falling down the drain when the water is going down the pipes, a loved one passing away, suffering bullying and mockery, the first love, etc. Imagination has no boundaries for them and anything is possible, if we follow the original issue's narrative logic. Every story is told from the child's point of view and the highly dramatic content of the issues they face is clearly reflected in them. Milo and Mila are also the same person who can transform at will into one or the other simply by touching their belly button. This holds the purpose of emphasizing our humane essence and also overcoming the traditional viewpoint of a gender that is still evident somehow in many works in our culture. In "Milo and the Egg", a boy finds an egg inside of him one day and fosters a parental relationship with it as it grows , until it's time for it to hatch. This is allusive to pregnancy, in the body of a boy.
