  • Mental Math: How to Develop a Mind for Numbers, Rapid Calculations and Creative Math Tricks

    Joseph White

    eBook
Mental math is a skill people practice on a daily basis, often subconsciously, which involves doing calculations in your head. In mental math, you don’t have to write down elaborate details concerning the variables involved.Children are usually encouraged to learn mental math skills early in school, because being good at mental calculations can make a person successful in many other fields. Please note that even if being good at mental math does not necessarily signify high intelligence, people usually think it does, and that perception can help you obtain opportunities for advanced study or career development.Mental math proficiency is not just good for academic pursuits but also helps make life easier overall. This book dives deep into the mechanics of mental math and provides examples that will help the reader build mental math proficiency quickly.

  • Microwave Semiconductor Engineering

    Joseph F. White

    Hardcover (Springer, Jan. 31, 1982)
Joseph F. White has studied, worked, and taught in all aspects of microwave semiconductor materials, control diodes, and circuit applications. He is thoroughly grounded in the physics and math ematics of the field, but has primarily the engineer's viewpoint, combining basic knowledge with experience and ingenuity to gen erate practical designs under constraints of required performance and costs of development and production. As a result of his teach ing experience and numerous technical papers and oral presenta tions, he has developed a clear, well-organized writing style that makes this book easy to use as a self-teaching text, a reference volume, and a design handbook. Dr. White believes that an engineer must have a good understand ing of semiconductor physics, a thorough knowledge of microwave circuit theory, at least an elementary acquaintance with transistor drivers, and the ability to check and refine a microwave circuit on a computer terminal to be qualified for modern, creative design of microwave semiconductor control components. These subjects are well covered in approximately the first half of the book; the second half treats the general and specific design of switches, at tenuators, limiters, duplexers, and phase shifters, with many ex amples drawn from his experience and that of others.

  • Microwave Semiconductor Engineering

    Joseph F. White

Hardcover (Scitech Publishing, Dec. 31, 1995)
This unique volume clearly analyzes the complex field of semiconductor microwave engineering. constants, formulas, derivations, and practical applications using diode control circuits are covered in an easy-to-follow format. This handbook even offers coverage of computer language related specifically to microwave device engineering. Microwave circuit engineers say this ready-to-use insight into FORTRAN IV programming is reason alone to have the book. Vital attention is given to microwave semiconductor diodes, and an extensive table of fundamental diode characteristics - not found even in diode handbooks - is provided for your convenience. You'll discover unique treatments, such as a thermal time constant analysis that quantifies the pulses heating effect of semiconductors, along with a method of estimating their reliability (long life expectancy) based on operating junction temperature. Practical examples of microwave network analysis and field analysis with actual device designs are demonstrated and examined.
