  • Lovely Facts Valentine's Day - Jose Luis Benitea

    Jose Luis Benitea

    (Independently published, Feb. 7, 2020)
It wasn't until more than 200 years later that 14 February was proclaimed St Valentine's Day. By this time Rome had become Christian and the Catholic Church was determined to stamp out any remaining paganism. A pagan fertility ritual was held in February each year and the Pope abolished this festival and proclaimed 14 February Saint Valentine's Day, thus establishing this feast day on the Catholic Calendar of Saints. The poet Chaucer in the Middle Ages was the first to link St Valentine with romantic love. This was the beginning of the tradition of courtly love, a ritual of expressing love and admiration, usually in secret. This custom spread throughout Europe and stories grew about a High Court of Love where female judges would rule on issues related to love on 14 February each year. Historians believe that these meetings were in fact gatherings where people read love poetry and played games of flirtation.

  • 101 Ways of Not Succeeding in Business

    Jose Luis Anguix

    (, Nov. 12, 2019)
The book relates, in a clear and simple way, with a street language, the vicissitudes and adventures of a Spanish migrant in Australia. He tells us how that country is, so distant and different of his own, and why after several years residing there, because of his restless nature, he decides to return to Spain in order to prosper economically, through various investments and the establishment of different companies.Directly told, not in an academic way, but with a bit of irony, the author opens the book of his experiences, as a student, emigrant, factory worker, public employee and finally entrepreneur, and encourages all those who are not satisfied with their current job, find themselves unemployed or want to embark on an entrepreneurial adventure, to do it in the best possible way, and to show the mistakes that can be made and the best way to avoid them.It also gives us the guidelines to succeed in every facet of life and not to be dominated by money and material things. He believes that earning money should not be the only goal to achieve but that it should be just a part of the things, which as human beings aspire to achieve, prosperity, economic independence, etc., but also honesty and to be prepared to share whatever we have, with the rest. The author believes that success is good, but that failure is also part of life, and we must assimilate and learn from it, and so to undertake the following projects with the best prospects. After a failure we have to get up again and continue to wage the different battles, until we achieve the goals that we have set ourselves. The author encourages us not to despair when we do not achieve our goals at first, but to continue fighting and imitate the advice of a great entrepreneur:"Failure is a great opportunity to start again with more intelligence" (Henry Ford)
