  • How to become president; or, The new doctrine of election

    John S Slater

Paperback (Ulan Press, Aug. 31, 2012)
This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.
  • Nicholas: The Adventures of Young Santa Claus

    John Martin Slattery

    eBook
Set in a world long ago, before countries had been discovered or oceans crossed a young boy and his friends set out on a journey of discovery that leads to the birth of a legend. Nicholas is a tale looking at what the Santa Claus story might have been like if it had been told from when he was just a twelve year old boy. The world he was born into is full of magic, both good and evil and he must face it all as he tries to help the less fortunate around him. The Known Lands are the places that people live in, and the Unknown Lands are the places that nobody has visited, or so they believe. Nicholas is always in peril as he and his friends try to save their village from an evil Sorcerer, a Witch, and a Mutant Army. They are aided by friendly Elves who live in the North and who have never seen humans until they meet Nicholas. On his journey Nicholas has to survive the perils of the Enchanted Cave; he meets the Ice Princess; finds out about Reindeer that one day might be able to fly; he looks through a magic window that shows him the future where there are enormous cities, and all sorts of stuff he does not understand. He even sees a strange old man in a red suit that looks very nice and he has no idea that he is looking at himself in the future. But Nicholas is just a boy and his main concern is about the world he lives in. He has to fight against the Mutant Army, the Black Witch, the Master of Shadows, and on top of all that he has to go up against a bunch of evil men called the Ice Bandits in order to save his village. Nicholas's story is told by one of the Elves, and The Enchanted Cave is the first adventure in his amazing life.
