Gus and the Pteranodon is about a boy named Gus who likes to use his imagination to take him on adventures in his own backyard. In this particular story, he hears a strange cawing noise and make believes that it is a prehistoric Pteranodon. With the help of his friends Abe and Margo, Gus sets off to find the Pteranodon. The three friends encounter other dinosaurs and obstacles on the way. Gus really did hear something. Was it a Pteranodon? This storybook is also the first in a unique series of books published by Story Stuff, Inc. Presented as a Parent-Child Interaction Story, this storybook comes loaded with different ways to facilitate interaction between parent (or other adults such as grandparents) and child. The goal of the storybook, and the mission of Story Stuff, Inc. is to facilitate interaction between parent and child so that the parent can gain deeper insights as to the personality of their child. Dynamic questions exist within the text that are designed to foster conversation between parent and child. Illustrations are placed on separate, thick chipboard and die-stamped so that children can punch them out and play with them, yet another way for them to self-express. The storybook also includes a maze, connect the dot, word find, suggested activities, and helpful hints for conversing with children. All in all, it is a resource to assist parents in knowing the depths of their children's personalities.
