Gus and the Pteranodon is about a boy named Gus who likes to use his imagination to take him on adventures in his own backyard. In this particular story, he hears a strange cawing noise and make believes that it is a prehistoric Pteranodon. With the help of his friends Abe and Margo, Gus sets off to find the Pteranodon. The three friends encounter other dinosaurs and obstacles on the way. Gus really did hear something. Was it a Pteranodon?
