An early nineteenth century American issue of The Pilgrim's Progress from This World, to That Which Is to Come, a 1678 Christian allegory written by English writer and Puritan preacher John Bunyan (1628-1688) which is regarded as one of the most significant works of religious English literature. Pilgrim's Progress has been translated into more than 200 languages, has never been out of print and has been cited as the first novel written in English.
