  • Young Tom Bowling - The Boys of the British Navy

    J. C. Hutcheson

Paperback (Leopold Classic Library, March 30, 2015)
About the Book Most of Great Britain, made up by England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, was conquered by Rome, which ruled the island for almost 500 years. Subjected to raids by Continental Angles, Jutes and Saxons, in 1066 England was conquered by the Normans, who were eventually assimilated. While Wales came under Anglo-Norman control in 1282, it wasn't officially annexed by England until the 16th century. After the Wars of Scottish Independence, the House of Stuart ruled Scotland uncontested for three centuries. In 1707 England, Scotland and Wales formed the United Kingdom, which fueled by such developments as the England-led Industrial Revolution, the Scottish Enlightenment, and the building of the expansive British Empire. The Empire came under extreme pressure during World War 1, and was further weakened by World War 2, resulting in its dissolution, and the establishment of the British Commonwealth of Nations in its place. Also in this Book Collections of English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh literature are anthologies that have been compiled in order to demonstrate the works of a number of English, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh authors. And in this Book History derives from Greek historia, meaning "inquiry, knowledge acquired by investigation". It is the study of the past as described in written documents, with events occurring before written records being considered prehistory. World history is generally considered a teaching topic rather than a research topic. There are many history text books of varying quality, with some addressing the teaching of history or historiography, the process of undertaking research in history.About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades. While these books may have occasional imperfections, we consider that only hand checking of every page ensures readable content without poor picture quality, blurred or missing text etc. That's why we: republish only hand checked books; that are high quality; enabling readers to see classic books in original formats; that are unlikely to have missing or blurred pages. You can search "Leopold Classic Library" in categories of your interest to find other books in our extensive collection. Happy reading!
