ACT Math: The Unofficial Prep Guide helps students prepare for the math section of the ACT by working problems similar to real ACT problems. ACT Math includes detailed explanations to help each student understand the problems that are toughest for him or her. Every question in the book is similar to (has the same math as) the question with the same number in the first practice test of The Official ACT Prep Guide (2017 edition).ACT Math is organized to make it easy for the student to choose either bare essentials or a fuller explanation for each question. Answers are highlighted so that students can find them easily. Important material that students are likely to need for more than one question is emphasized by italic text. Keywords are provided after each question for students who want to research question topics online in more depth. The text can be navigated easily so that students can skip what they know and zero in on areas in which they need support.Throughout ACT Math, students are encouraged to think about what it is that each question is asking them; what information they have already, either because it’s given to them with the problem or because it’s something they already know – say a formula; and how they can get from what they know to what they have to find.
