One might think that living on a planet that your father manages might afford you special privileges. Maybe that would be true for other Chancellors' daughters, but for Jylynn it means constant scrutiny, constantly being surrounded by her father's people, and his constant meddling in her day-to-day life. Even going to town is a major obstacle! For a restless spirit like Jylynn, her father's need to control her life becomes unbearable, especially when he continues to push her towards the study of wizardry after she has shown him her natural sorcery ability! Her twin sister aches to gain their father's approval and studies night and day, only to always be in her sister's shadow. She goes where he wants and does what he says, but Jylynn wants more for her life than that. Armed with the idea that neither she nor her sister can get what they desire most if Jylynn stays, she must do what she can to free herself. Part of being a sheltered child, however, is never really knowing the dangers beyond your own father's reach. What will Jylynn do when forces beyond her knowledge entangle themselves in her quest for freedom?
