So, Merlin had issues with his mother, over the 'women are equal to men' thing. To keep her quiet he shapeshifted her into a spider and imprisoned her in Tir Nan Og. After all, unlike what legends suggest, Merlin's mother was not human and therefore dangerous; dangerous to male tyranny over women that is. But, what he did to Lady Igraine was unforgivable and because of that, Merlin will die. For, even Merlin is subject to Karma and Karma is such a bitch.
