"Kwesi's Dad Saved The World: African Soldiers During World War II " introduces children aged 6-10 to the true story of African Soldiers who won a significant battle that was an important contribution to the western powers winning and ending World War II. The book is presented in poetry format making it easy and fun new learning for children. Photographs included of African soldiers from Tanzania, Kenya and other African countries help to tell this true story. A parent/teacher study guide is included providing new vocabulary for children, maps of Africa, information on the different languages spoken in Africa, educational lesson plans for children, parents, and teachers to complete together. Kirkus Book Review says, "Admirably, the book reaches beyond the usual topics covered in children's books..." This book is an excellent reading addition for world history in general, and Black History Month in particular. Great for school libraries. Great for parents to share with their children at home.
