Four - Some things lost are not lost forever.Sometimes they’re only misplaced.Five - Evil is not confined by time. And this evil has traveled to find me.One week ago, I didn’t know time could move backwards. One week ago, I didn’t know anything existed behind the glass of the mirror. One week ago, I didn’t know—couldn’t know—that when I finally found light, I unwillingly welcomed darkness.
  • Time

    Janessa Burt

eBook (Janessa Burt, Sept. 12, 2015)
Looking back, there are five things I would have done differently. One – I would’ve tried shielding Miles from the ugliness of the mirror. Two – I would’ve listened to the warnings that despite the evil I’ve already met, worse was coming.Three – I would’ve recognized that while I was trying to keep everyone in the light, darkness crept into the hidden corners of myself I never knew existed.Four – I wouldn’t have so willingly trusted others just because they are family.Five – Most importantly, I would have shielded my heart before it turned black.

I’ve realized I’ll never have all the answers, but some things, without a doubt, I’ll die knowing:ONE—The mirror brought beauty into my life, but to keep a balance, it took something vital away from me.TWO—Seeing someone I love die changed me, altered my heart so completely there are pieces I don’t recognize. THREE—I fell in love three separate times, each with a different Miles. The only parts of my heart I do recognize are the pieces that belong to him.FOUR—Chris is different than the man I first met. He showed me that evil is learned, not given. And he taught me more than I ever thought I was capable of learning. FIVE—Black hearts aren’t dead. They just need to find those things worth beating for. People say your life flashes before your eyes right before you die.Mine did.But only the good memories.
