Lacy is a lonely 16 year old estranged from her father and living with her mum in a rough part of town as an only child. She is surprised to be given a silver cross for her 16th birthday which her mother believes once belonged to Lacy's Great Grandfather. This is inscribed with mysterious intials on the back, which Lacy sets out to uncover. She starts to trace her family tree, which seems to have been deliberately concealed around World War II.
