We have proved that this is true when the interval of time is so small that we may consider the force as constant during that time, and the mean velocity during the interval as the arithmetical mean of the velocities at the beginning and end of the interval. This assumption, which is exactly true when the force is constant, however long the interval may be, becomes in every case more and more nearly true as the interval of time taken becomes smaller and smaller. By dividing the whole time of action into small parts, and proving that in each of these the work done is equal to the increase of the kinetic energy of the body, we may, by adding the successive portions of the work and the successive increments of energy, arrive at the result that the total work done by the force is equal to the total increase of kinetic energy. This is the 3rd in the Helen James series. 9 year old Helen James is on a school trip when she falls over a cliff edge but is saved by Hyming. The 'Visitants' had sent Hyming to collect Helen and take her across the universe to meet up with the 'Visitants' near to the planet Chrilren. Helen is required to stop this planet from destroying itself but to her this problem is outside her realms but Zacred would not listen to her and sent her down to the planet and put things right. No matter how hard she tried the beings would not listen to Helen and so she returned home thinking she had failed. The Visitants also thought she had failed them and the beings on Chrilren.

Helen James latest adventure takes her out into the universe but this time it is not a Star System or Planet she is here to help. There is a space craft drifting in space and it appears that all it's crew have been incompasidtated. The 'Visitants' have collected Helen from Earth and taken her into the spacecraft. All the crew are frozen and the craft is far from it's home. Can Helen save the crew and get the spacecraft on it's way back to it's home planet, which Helen discovers is in the Milky Way.
