    The true story of how John Rock, aka "The Commodore" restored the American Flag to Crab Island, on Lake Champlain, New York. Crab Island was a burial ground during the Battle of Plattsburgh, in the War of 1812. John, with brother Commander Michael Rock of American Legion Post 1619, organized a group of volunteers from Clinton County. They called themselves "Friends of Crab Island". Together they restored the broken flag pole, erected proper grave markers, to pay honor to the fallen American soldiers on the anniversary of the Battle of Plattsburgh, every September 11th.
