  • My Busy Brain Journal - 4 week version: A place for the scribbles of a busy brain!

    J L Johnston

Paperback (Independently published, Nov. 16, 2019)
'My Big Brain Journal' is there to help kids make sense of things that are in their busy brains! It focuses on the positives such as 'Today's WOW moments' and there are pages at the back to set personal challenges and put down the things that they are really good at, and enjoy doing. There are blank pages to doodle on when they don't have much to write down, or to sum up the week. On the daily pages there are boxes to unload the events of the day in easy bullet point style answers and encourages even the the most reluctant of writers. It also has a space to titled 'Did anything make you sad today?' By writing these things down it can help a child to make sense of what happened and can open a conversation between a child and there parent/carer who can then help them process the feelings. This book has 4 weeks worth of pages. There is a 12 week version also available on Amazon.I made this Journal for my 9 year old son who has his struggles in with social situations and focusing. It is sometimes hard for him to make sense of everything when it is in his own head so I made this Journal to help him. It has helped him understand his feelings and emotions and has emphasized his positive attributes which can often be overlooked when there are challenges with certain behaviour's. Although I have tried out this journal with my son and others who have certain challenges, it is perfect for any child of a primary school age. The Busy Brain Journal is aimed at primary school aged children with its bright colours and cute graphics. For 'tweens' and teenagers there is 'The Journal of a Busy Mind' which has the same sort of setup in a little bit of a more grown up layout and extra pages suitable to their growing personalities!
