Kids love to play. Kids love to make plays! These short plays and scenes are perfect for helping teach students how to collaborate to put on a show.Playmaking is a craft. The result is collaborative project, and putting on a play takes a group of people. No one person can do it alone. A play is something you build with your friends! As an actor, director, teacher and playwright I’ve approached playmaking from a number of different perspectives. Rereading the pieces I’ve selected for this collection, I’ve decided that these scripts can be considered a recipe that you can use as a starting point for making your scene. The number of characters vary from play to play, but even if there are just two characters speaking, you’ll ask yourself: Who will direct it? Where we we get the costumes, and the props? If there are sound effects, how will we create those sounds? Who is going to turn on and off the lights? If you’re a teacher, feel free to use these scripts in your class. Play scripts are fantastic tools for teachingCollaboration and group interactionCreativity and personal expressionResponsibilityTechnical skillsThe use of language, including English as a second languageAn so much more!Or, you can…just make a scene for fun!Included are three short plays:"Djinn Rummage," in which self-centered Doreen finds an old magic lamp at a rummage sale, When I genie emerges from it, Doreen thinks all her dreams will come true…but that’s not exactly how things turn out!"All that Glitters,: in which the bumbling Behr Brothers thought they had struck gold when they kidnapped the heiress to the Golden Throne port-a-pottie empire... boy were they wrong! Gilda puts the Behrs through their paces, teaching them that all that glitters is NOT gold!
