Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Nov. 6, 2017)
WHAT IF YOU COULD START OVER… “My blood ran cold at the vulturous look in his eye. My father. My rock. A beloved teacher and protector of young girls. Defender against rapist jocks, and jacket-lender. How could he be a vampire?” After a grave warning from a cloaked stranger, Ara leaves her old life to live with her father. She could never have imagined the unfortunate future that awaited her there. Paired up with preppy cheerleader, Emily, the girls spend the summer getting to know a set of bewitching twins with mysterious abilities. But all the while, dark family secrets are lying in wait, looking for the worst moment to resurface. And when they do, the one person Ara loves most will be the one to hurt her the deepest. A lover will be ripped away. A friend will leave. And her father will betray her in a way that can never be forgiven. Go back to where it all began in the gripping vampire series, Dark Secrets, and find out what would have happened if Ara’s mother had never died; if the evil witch Safia had no influence over Drake’s decisions; if she’d met Jason first. This is a companion book to the not-yet-released Dark Secrets Book 8. It can be read as a standalone series if you’ve never read Dark Secrets, and will consist of roughly three books. It can also be read before book 8 is released.
  • Far Away and Long Ago: A History of My Early Life

    W. H. Hudson

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Nov. 1, 2016)
The autobiography of W. H. Hudson contains unique and sensuous insights into his early life in provincial Argentina during the mid-19th century. By the time he published this retrospective account of his formative years, W. H. Hudson was a highly respected and famous naturalist and ornithologist, responsible for the expansion and development of both disciplines. He was also a novelist, publishing tales of romantic adventure to praise. Although he held a special love for his native Argentina, and the Patagonia region of South America, Hudson would permanently migrate to England in 1874, remaining there for most of his remaining years. His studies and comparisons of the avian species of Britain and his native land were welcomed by the academic establishment in the UK, who found Hudson's papers well-researched and informed by their author's origins. In contrast to Hudson's professional output, Far Away and Long Ago relates tales of pastoral life in Argentina, a nation which at the time of Hudson's childhood had barely begun to industrialise. The natural habitat, traditions of the locals, and Hudson's early observations of birds are chronicled, as is his very first journey to the capital city of Buenos Aires. A treasure for its historical insight into an Argentina now long past, and for charting the early years of a talented naturalist, Far Away and Long Ago is a highly accessible and interesting autobiography.

  • The Land's End: A Naturalist's Impressions, in West Cornwall

    W. H. Hudson

Paperback (Forgotten Books, April 22, 2017)
Excerpt from The Land's End: A Naturalist's Impressions, in West CornwallCornwall to me was just the Land's End dark Bolerium, seat of storms -that famous foreland of which a vast but misty picture formed in childhood remains in the mind, and if I ever felt any strong desire to visit Cornwall it was to look upon that scene. Then came a day in November, 1905, when, having settled to go away somewhere for a season, I all at once made up my mind to visit the unknown pen insula and to go straight away to the very end. It almost astonished me when I alighted from my train at St. Ives to think I had travelled three hundred and twenty odd miles with less discomfort and weariness than I usually experience on any journey of a hundred.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
