This ebook is 27 pages long, approximately 2,800 words of fun facts that are taken from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration records. It contains dozens of facts we know about the Moon, and16 official captioned NASA photos in (most) in color. Children 6-10 years old will enjoy the easy reading presented. Two children go on a simulated future flight to the Moon with their grandpa. It is narrated by grandpa’s granddaughter who is 11 years old.The only place in space where humans have walked, except for planet Earth is the Moon. A long time ago, in 1969, the first three humans, Neil Armstrong, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, and Michael Collins, took off from Earth in a space capsule called Apollo 11. Since then 12 Americans have walked on the Moon, but more than 75 spacecraft have flown by, orbited, or landed on the moon. Many years passed and the Apollo spacecraft was replaced by the Space Shuttle. The Shuttle was built to go to the International Space Station, and never to the Moon. The shuttle is the only winged manned spacecraft to have achieved orbit and land, and the only reusable space vehicle that has ever made many flights into orbit. After more than 30 years, and more than 130 missions, the Shuttle started to wear out and a new space vehicle was built. This new space capsule called Orion is a big improvement over the Apollo space capsules, and it is going to take us to the new Moon Base.Grandpa says the Moon is 238,857 miles (384,403 kilometers) from Earth. It will take us about three days to get there. Grandpa says that if we could drive there, but we cannot, it would take about 135 days traveling at 70 miles per hour (113kmh). I don’t think I could wait that long for a potty break.
